It inherits the tradition of green landscape painting (qinglü shanshui) while making bold innovations. Bright orange-red, clear blue-green, and other mineral colors are used: orange-red depicts mountain peaks, like the first rays of the rising sun, endowing the mountains with powerful vitality; blue-green is applied to create a scene like mist and clouds spreading, building a distant and hazy artistic conception.
